Water-insoluble (lake) food colours
Water-insoluble pigments or lakes are water-soluble dyes dispersed on an aluminum substrate. Since the colour pigments do not dissolve in water, products such as oils and fats can also be coloured in this way where water-soluble products cannot be used. All EXTRACHEM water-insoluble pigments are available in powder form as well as various dispersions. Of course, all dyes meet the purity criteria of Directive 231/2012/EU.
The respective US approved water-insoluble pigments are also available as FD&C certified lakes. Each batch is analysed by the FDA using a sample, released and listed under the individual certified batch number.
